| General Rules- Spoiler:
1. Sexually explicit content is not permitted
2. Moderate cursing is permitted
3. Alcohol references are permitted, but addictions are not permitted
4. References to heavily illegal substances are not permitted
5. Political, religion or other controversial topics are not permitted
6. God-Modding is not permitted
7. Spamming/trolling is not permitted
8. Every member is required to have an avatar
9. RESPECT OTHERS
Character Creation- Spoiler:
The characters of Lost Universe consist of various classes of people, and the role play itself consists of the stories they tell of their survival (or death) as they travel around the disastrous world they are trapped in. Making a character that is truly your own is encouraged, but there are some guidelines that must be followed.
1. Until certain ranks are reached, only classes given in the introduction are permitted
2. Weapons not officially allowed in the weapons thread are not permitted.
3. Member made weapons made with a weapons ticket and accepted on by a vote of staff, then placed into the weapons thread are permitted
Slight alterations are permitted.
4. CHARACTERS MUST NOT BE OVERPOWERED
Make sure you balance your character's abilities. If they are capable of some great feat, they should have a weakness that balances it; even if they have been trained they should not know all the most powerful attacks/spells
5. At least one character must be created within two weeks of account creation.
6.Pet Monsters are restricted to Gods, being that the creatures were originally created from what the Gods made, and so they have a natural connection. To other beings, the monsters are naturally wild ad untameable, and will attack without provocation.
Character Cards- Spoiler:
Within this forum, members are permitted to have multiple characters in the roleplay. The amount of characters permitted for each user are represented by what are called "Character Cards" If a character card is in use, then it represents an active character, while a character card not in use represents an opening for a new character to be created.
1. Every member receives two character cards when they start out. These character cards will not be in use, and will become in use when a character is submitted, approved by an Admin, and placed into a team
2. Cards can be found on your profile page, so you may keep track of how many Cards you have
3. Every member can gain cards as they progress
4. While character cards are given out often, it is discouraged to make too many characters if you do not have the time to manage them. Only create what you can handle
Character Card Limit
1. There is a starting limit of three character cards, meaning that you may only have a max of three characters at once
2. As you gain ranks, your card limit increases
3. More about ranks can be found in the appropriate thread
Killing Characters Off
1. You are permitted to kill off your own characters in order to be refunded a character card. However, note that if you are killed by a ripper, then no character card will be refunded.
2. You must post on your team character sheet if you kill one of your characters so we can refund your card and take you off the team roster
3. You cannot kill another member's character unless both parties explicitly agree. Conversations dealing with killing off another member's character should be dealt with through private messages
RP Rules and Required Formatting- Spoiler:
Lost Universe is a 'turn-based' roleplay game, meaning that everyone in each thread must post in an established cycle to ensure no one gets left behind. In addition this this key rule, there are some other guidelines that should be followed while roleplaying on the forum.
1. The characters/players are listed in the order they should post in in the team character sheet of the team that particular character is a member of
2. Characters are only to follow the character preceding them, and are not to post out of turn unless the character they normally follow has been listed as away
3. It is recommended that each player posts once a day, but they should wait no longer than three days to respond
4. Try to post at least a paragraph each time you respond, but try to avoid going over five paragraphs if possible
5. Make sure you use proper grammar! If you do not, then you should not be on this site
6. Use out of character (OoC) notes where applicable.
This goes for if you need to make an out of character comment about the roleplay. Also, all members must add an OoC note to the bottom of their posts whenever:
They are granted permission to harm or kill another member's character.
When they give permission for another member to harm or kill their character
7. Every official RP thread is member-moderated concerning content.
If a member sees violations of forum rules (be it godmodding, one-sentence posts, or otherwise), they are to notify the member. If the violations persist, report it to one of the admin's
8. When posting in any roleplay threads, you should format the top of your post like so:
Location | Time of Day (post count)
The content of your post can then follow.
9. State your location and time of day in bold
10. Post a post count number after the time of day in your header if you wish to rank-up. Details on ranking up can be found in the appropriate thread
Team Rules- Spoiler:
In Lost Universe, a "team" is made up of the other characters your character will be interacting with. The team you choose to place your character in will essentially become your roleplaying "group," and any and all canon roleplaying will take place in their thread
1. Each member's character will be assigned to a single team
2. A full team consists of six individual members. It will start with one person/leader, and will grow until it reaches its limit
3. A team can only be created when all the other RP teams are full in the Zone you wish for your team to start in
4. Teams that are open and available to join can be found in the team character sheets
5. The team leader will determine where the team's journey will start
6. The leader's only responsibility is to monitor the length of each of their team members' posts. Posts must be between 1-7 paragraphs. Leaders are to warn members if they do not follow this rule
7. Other members of the team can report posts that are too short to an admin
Character Absence- Spoiler:
Please note that there are strict activity rules on Lost Universe to ensure that threads to not become stagnant.
1. A character/member is given three days to post, starting at the moment the team member before them posts, which begins their turn
2. A Ripper warning will be sent via PM to the members who haven't posted by the third day.
3. On the fourth day, if the member hasn't posted by 12:00 Approx. NZ Auckland time, the character will be killed by Rippers
NOTE: This ONLY applies to the individual who hasn't posted on time, and not the rest of the team
4. If your character(s) do get killed by Rippers, your character ticket is forfeited. You will not get it refunded
5. If three of your characters are killed by Rippers, you will be banned from the site
The Rippers devour any slacking posters, therefore it is essential that you protect yourself from them by posting when it is your turn. If you are not going to be able to log on in order to do so, however, there are ways to avoid a Ripper attack.
6. If you plan on taking a leave of absence, notify the Safehouse managers
In ClosingAs our rules are a bit lengthy and complex, we do not expect you to read through and understand everything in one day. You are free to PM the admins or talk to members in the chat if you need any help. We made these rules to keep the forum at its highest quality possible. Once you make your first character and jump in, it gets much easier from there. There is a reason this thread is required reading. Do not make the mistake of merely skimming through the rules and agreeing to them without knowing what they consist of. Once you read this, reply to this thread stating that you accept the terms of our forum. We reserve the right to ban anyone who does not adhere to these rules. Your next step after accepting the terms is to go to the Landing Zone in order to create your first character. Alternatively, if any new members are interested in pre-existing profiles, they should take a look at the Orphanage. In this board you may adopt abandoned characters that may be in need of a good owner.

| Alright. I've read all the rules and understood most of them. The ones I didn't quite understand I asked God of Darkness about. I accept the terms of your forum and I will have my character up soon. I don't really feel to great all of a sudden and my stomach is feeling a bit weird. So, soon. | |

| Quick question, if exactly three of your characters are killed, you get banned? What if you buy a character cap +1? Would it count as in if all your characters are killed you het banned? Or would it still be the same? And also, how would you level up and how do you know what level you are on? | |

| Yes, the limit is 3 deaths and then you get banned, you can arrange to have your characters killed and get a refund, but 3 Ripper killings because you had not made a post in three days while it was your turn will get you banned. As for levels, I meant for those to be ranks. Will edit now (ranking up area) | |

| Yep, you know how there are Gods, it's the same thing, except they are evil, and don't really get role-played much. They only RP when a user hasn't made their post within three days, then a Ripper will make a RP post in which they kill the character which did not post. They also have a Ripper team, like gods, so they aren't in ordinary teams. | |
